Scope of the job

The Global Enterprise Architecture team develops and manages the global Enterprise Architecture of GrandVision, including:

  • Business Solutions
  • Technology & Digital
  • Data, Integration & Information
  • Security & Identities
  • IT innovation

The Enterprise Architect (EA) establishes and protects the Global and OpCo Enterprise Architecture and optimises related IT assets by defining a long-term Enterprise Architecture strategy and roadmap, aligned with the GrandVision business objectives and IT strategy.

The Enterprise Architect is expected to:

  • Develop win-win, collaborative relations that add clear value to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure the collation and analysis of financial information to ensure value driven decisions are made and the impact to the organisation clearly articulated
  • Actively embrace and promote change, especially from a business perspective
  • Lead by example and actively engage with the business

Key responsibilities of the Enterprise Architect

  • Develop and manage Enterprise Architecture strategy and Enterprise Architecture solutions e.g. solution direction, standards and roadmaps
  • Support and enable the agenda of the GrandVision IT team (GVIT)
  • Ensure that the EA related deliverables are socialised, published and understood by key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development, improvement, simplification and governance of the enterprise IT landscape, taking overall business and IT objectives into account
  • Active role in the 3-year project portfolio planning process (Consult on business demand, IT driven and business driven portfolio)
  • Accountable for the selection process of new solutions (application, technology, digital etc.), responsible for approving selected solutions and accountable for publishing updated enterprise architecture
  • Performing architecture reviews based on whether Enterprise Architectural standards are followed or change programmes are in line with the reference architecture and the Enterprise Architecture roadmap
  • Advisor to the business and IT community, program/project management, support organisation and external suppliers
  • Ensure the landscape integrity by estimating the value and impact of changes or the adding/remove of components to the architectural landscape and advise relevant stakeholders on this matter (in programmes/projects)
  • Build trusted relationships with partners and stakeholders within GVIT and the other business functions as well as with third parties
  • Understand the business strategies and directions; actively partner with the business and other stakeholders and be able to challenge them
  • Working on strategic level with partners to further optimise GVIT sourcing strategy
  • Ensure the collation and analysis of financial information so that value driven decisions are made and the impact to the organisation clearly articulated
  • Develop, define and manage IT architectural standards and policies
  • Review and sign off standards that impact the Enterprise Architecture landscape
  • Keep track of new trends, technologies and architecture models inside and outside GrandVision
  • Actively advise the Senior Management of GVIT on relevant opportunities for GrandVision
  • Manage GVIT’s innovation processes (external and internal innovation)
  • Translate innovation ideas into relevant long-term IT plans.

Position profile


  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in business, applied sciences, for example, engineering, systems design, computer sciences or other related field

Experience / skills required

  • 8 – 10 years (senior IT managerial) experience required within a complex international environment
  • Demonstrated capabilities in defining and managing Enterprise Architectures
  • High-level understanding of frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc
  • Creativity – being able to look at technology and business trends from different angles
  • Strategic thinking – both macro and micro, internal external
  • Strategic sensing – understanding and acting as strategy and technologies evolve over time
  • End to end communication – from creation of materials to presentation and updates
  • Mix of pragmatic and dogmatic – clear on end state but flexible in being able to see and follow different routes to get there
  • Financial understanding – how technology choices drive financials in build, deploy and run
  • Change understanding – how technology choices drive organisational and business model changes
  • Effective management in a global organisation
  • Delivery of architectural artefacts e.g. standards, roadmaps
  • Architecture governance to influence and drive decision making across a global organisation
  • Partner enterprise architecture management understanding and skills
  • Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and risk management
  • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, headless software architecture, event-driven IT and predictive analytics
  • Exposure and understanding of existing, new and emerging technologies, and processing environments
  • Good soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Good written, verbal, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture
  • Good knowledge of business processes
  • Familiarity with basic graphical modelling approaches, tools and model repositories
