Global S&OP Planner, Amsterdam Area.

This role presents a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing and highly successful business. GrandVision has grown predominantly through inorganic acquisitions over the past two decades to become the largest global optical retailer.

Global S&OP Manager

Main purpose of the role

The vacant role is a highly visible supply chain position that will lead and implement one large, or several small, transformation projects which will contribute to bring the above building blocks alive. Close corporation with the GV Operating Companies is fundamental for the success of this role. One specific large global transformation project is for the design and implementation of S&OP process & tooling, linked to building number 3 in the above overview. aiming the delivery of the Product Value Chain (PVC) strategy and achievement of departmental and business objectives. You possess a leading-edge knowledge and competency in S&OP and disseminate the knowledge and best practices across the global S&OP community.


The core responsibility of the S&OP Planner on process & tooling will be:

  • Lead and implement large SC projects, in close corporation with the GV Operating Companies
  • Act as one of the Subject Matter Expert for Supply Chain processes and ways of working, specifically for Forecasting, demand planning and S&OP
  • Further develop Global S&OP process based on best practises within and outside of GrandVision
  • Disseminate best practices in order to leverage the business and operational knowledge across the GVHQ and OpCos colleagues on S&OP;
  • Support OpCos with implementing Global Forecasting tool and S&OP Processes
  • Responsible to manage diverse relationships by excellent stakeholder management
  • Responsible for implementation, and therefore being able to get work done through others
  • Support local markets in identifying & driving opportunities to improve the global or local Supply Chain

Key Deliverables

  • Implement Global Forecasting tool and S&OP Processes in all OpCos and GVHQ in 2020

Required qualifications/level of education

  • Bachelor or Master degree in supply chain or technical discipline (preferable MSc)
  • 6-10 years of work experience, combination of consultancy & operations preferable
  • Prince2 certification preferred
  • APICS certification preferred

Key skills, knowledge and experience

Collaboration with local & group members is paramount to be successful in this role. And therefore, next to forecasting and S&OP knowledge, it is critical that a candidate can show an adequate maturity level of people influence and communication techniques within a multicultural environment.

  • Experience in leading projects in a multicultural & international environment
  • Extensive knowledge & experience of Supply Chain processes
  • Project management experience and organisational skills, preferable prince2 certified
  • Affinity with retail
  • Data and analytical skills. Being comfortable with gathering and analysing data while understanding how one part of the SC can affect other
  • Strong collaboration and people influence skills
  • Strategic problem-solving skills with a bias towards action.
  • A tenacious team player with ability to work cross functionally
  • Applies a flexible, proactive approach to working and demonstrates initiative
  • Works with energy and pace to positively motivate others towards adopting new processes
  • Excellent communication and team building skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Competent in Microsoft Office

Additional comment: In this role 25% travel is required.
