Lead UX Designer

As a Lead Senior UX Designer in GrandVision, you are responsible for the conceptual development, direction, and delivery of the different software solutions within Retail Development. You will be the main linking pin between Product Owner(s), Business Analysts, and other stakeholders from the different projects. This position will enable you to understand the requirements and convert them towards actual designs. You also act as a sounding board as what is good practice or not towards stakeholders. This means conveying them towards better understanding of good design practices.

To summarize for this role the scope is that you will design for our in-store retail experiences, manage a design backlog, further define, and help in a design system and coach teammates to perform their best.

  • Lead a Community of Practice for UX Design within Retail Development towards alignment on customer and employee journeys and corresponding business functionality for our retail stores.
  • Keep aligned with our ‘customers’ the local business stakeholders within our brands world-wide and their customer needs.
  • Work closely with local or global product management/business teams to create and maintain a design backlog and help deliver business value towards the end consumer or employees.
  • As this is a lead role, the expectation is that will be able to help, mentor and educate team members on visual and UX design.
  • Help with prioritization with Product Owners and team efforts on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensuring that the design have been validated and its pixel perfect quality when solutions are or will go into production.
  • Analyse, evaluate, and overcome team risks.
  • Keep up with design best practices and trends.

Key skills, knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor or University Degree in Arts or Interaction Design, or relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge of Online and Ecommerce.
  • A plus would be a good understanding and experience of Omnichannel and a seamless retail experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a design company, advertising agency or in-house creative environment.
  • Demonstration of your UX, illustration, photography or iconography skills are a plus.
  • Proficient in English written and spoken.
  • Proven knowledge or certification of Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Figma and or other design applications.
  • Empathic ability, takes initiative, pro-active, results focused and customer centric.
  • Proven Organizational skills.
