Legal Department Intern

A Legal Department intern supports the (Junior/Senior) Legal Counsel and/or Group Legal Director in the following areas: (i) legal research and analysis, (ii) contract management and basic commercial contract drafting, (iii) set-up and roll-out of legal processes & tools, (iv) roll-out of legal training to clients.

Reports to

Legal Counsel or Group Legal Director

Main purpose of the role

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supports the Legal Counsel or Legal Director
  • Conducts legal research and legal analysis of laws and documents
  • Manages commercial contracts and legal documents, ensures these are available and can be accessed by the business
  • Drafts basic clauses in basic contracts
  • Assists in corporate and intellectual property legal housekeeping
  • Helps set up legal processes and tools (e.g. corporate and IP databases)
  • Assists in developing legal training to internal clients

Required qualifications/level of education

Legal degree (university or HBO) with clear focus on commercial law (intellectual property, commercial contracts and corporate)

Core competencies/ Personal attributes

  • Highly adaptable to new environments; with a natural ability to embrace learning and develop through experience.
  • High level of energy and ambition to realise a positive impact.
  • Legal Counsel/Director and Client feedback
  • Accuracy and speed of advice
  • Ability to provide commercial, pro-active and cost-effective support to the business

Key skills, knowledge and experience

  • High proficiency in English (written/verbal as we operate in an international team)
  • Willing to learn, diplomatic and ability to communicate and influence
  • Preferably experienced in working in an in-house legal environment
  • Preferably experienced in working in a multinational, multicultural environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
  • Organizational skills and ability to work in autonomy – there will be remote working due to current COVID workplace restrictions
  • Working experience in a demanding environment
