As our new procurement Operations Manager, you will be covering an 8 month maternity cover (with potential for a long-term role in the future), and focus on our Exclusive Brands Frames and Sunglasses. With suppliers all over China, past covid, you'd have the opportunity to visit some in person to create stronger relationship, to help you understand the best way to manage each individual supplier.

Although this is an office role, it one an amazing one which will have a big impact on the final product, the most essential part of a customer's journey with us. It will focus more on the production side rather than purchasing and will be a combination of both strategic and well as operational duties.

  • Provides input for the development of the Global Sourcing & Procurement Strategy. Ensuring the optimal mix of suppliers, volume allocation management, production process optimization to ensure supply, reduce cost and guarantee quality.
  • Leads and executes the implementation of the strategy ensuring onboarding of key stakeholders via fact-based discussions and by leading and executing tactical projects.
  • Provide input the continuous value creation process by identifying opportunities leading to optimized cost, increased quality, and shorter lead-times. And ensures capturing the benefits via strong project management show casing broad knowledge and experience.
  • Is the business partner for key stakeholders for supplier related activities and the first level of escalation for the organization in case of disputes with suppliers.
  • Responsible for the contract management being contract negotiation, renewal, and closure.
  • Responsible for the compliance to ISO 13485 (QMS) for supplier selection and evaluation on a risk-based approach via execution of the standard operating procedures and work-instructions, maintaining the repository for the certifications, keeping the approved supplier list up to date.
  • Builds and maintains a strong network within the organization as well as in the optical market and is seen as a reliable business partner in the respective area.

Key skills, knowledge and experience

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a business-related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant working experience in similar roles.
  • Experienced in working in an international company environment.
  • Retail or FMCG experience is desirable.
  • Has advanced skills and knowledge on Sourcing, Supplier Relationship Management and Contract Management or broader management experience across several functional areas.
  • Able to convince others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Able to convince external parties to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Able to collaborate cross-functionally, identify challenges and significantly improve, change, or adapt existing methods.
  • Strong knowledge of English (written & spoken) and Chinese (written & spoken).
  • Strong communicator with the ability to enthuse and persuade with the natural ability to convince the other party.
  • Self-confidence, resilient and through knowledge and a experience
  • Highly adaptable to new environments; with a natural ability to embrace learning and develop through experience.
  • High level of energy and ambition to realise a positive impact.
  • Positive, customer first, ‘can do’ attitude.
