Senior Backend Developer

Due to continuous growth, we a looking for a Senior Backend Developer. There are no secrets for you developing ‘api-first’ cloud native applications. You have applied clean code practices and you understand the importance and feel responsible of delivering software towards production. With you and the help of your peers you take great pride into crafting enterprise grade solutions for building solutions for GrandVision’s Retail Development for our global customers in our 7000+ stores.

Most of these services will be built in NodeJS however as senior you also had past experiences in other Object-Oriented languages like Java. You will engage in an environment where you can apply and hone your skills with Native Cloud technologies as you build store solutions. Also, you will be able to work with the latest (web)technologies and which enables you to the challenge and improve our Optical retail business with your great ideas.

  • You take responsibility and pride in solving business problems with your knowledge and experience in writing excellent code for our growing optical retail needs for our 7000+ stores.
  • You will contribute to the success of the development team within Retail Development but also for our different stakeholders, Operating Companies world-wide, as part of their business success.
  • As senior you will take on a coaching role for our junior and medior developers.
  • Able to translate requirements and mock-ups into fully functioning features.
  • Design and pilot prototype applications where required.
  • Stay up to date with trends and technological advancements in web development. Learn and test new technologies, frameworks, and languages as relevant.
  • As senior you are able to communicate and express new technology frameworks or feasibilities to stakeholder and lead or enterprise architects to the extent to build or setup your ideas within given time and scope.
  • Ensure stability and scalability of our services.

Key skills, knowledge and experience


  • As we work in an international environment, good understanding and knowledge of and write fluent English.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimal 4 years of experience in software development.
  • Minimal of 4 years of experience in an OO language of which 2 years of experience in NodeJS.
  • Having experience in using unit testing tools.


  • Experience with ReactJS
  • Experience with NodeJS
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of HTML 5, Javascript, Typescript and CSS
