As Solution Architect within GrandVision Global IT, you will be part of a global team that will define the ure on key Omnichannel solution(s) e.g. new state-of-the-art Point of Sale solution and possible other key enablers for our worldwide stores and operating companies.

As architect you will have a true impact on our business, solve challenges and enable development streams to build scalable solutions that enables the business to deliver direct value to our customers -and employee journeys.

You are a critical thinker and with your past experiences, you will help us identify key challenges and overcome possible complex situations. You will act as a bridge between the different development streams, the business, products owners and other stakeholders.

Also, you constructively evaluate and develop ideas, plans and solutions and empower community of practice(s) to join you in reviewing solutions and objectively take decisions. Next to that you’ll be able communicate these technical solutions in a simple and comprehensive manner to higher management and business stakeholders.

This in the end will help improve the quality and reliability of our services towards our optical retail business for our 7000+ stores worldwide.


Your responsibilities and tasks:

  • Work with Enterprise Architecture Architects, Subject Matter Experts, Local Operating Companies and Development teams to determine the best cloud-native micro-service architecture.
  • Maintain communication and key design decisions with the development teams, providing architectural guidelines, support product increments, resolve technical dept and help with them to resolve escalated support issues if necessary.
  • Consistently monitor the scope of your work or projects, and flag (potential) risks e.g. technical knowledge or capabilities and (future) scalability or performance of the solution(s).
  • Maintain an understanding of how different solution streams and its decisions fit into the broader organizational picture.
  • You are responsible to shape and maintain the current micro-services architecture. With your knowledge you can identify opportunities to reduce complexity and coupling.
  • You are responsible to maintain and continuously improve the end-state architecture and define architecture phases that are part of a Project Increment planning.
  • Assist in hiring top talent.
  • You take part in design and pilot prototype applications when required within Retail Development.
  • We expect that you stay up to date with trends and technological advancements in web development. Learn and test new technologies, frameworks, and languages as relevant.


What we ask from you?

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a comparable role e.g. lead backend developer with focus on architecture.
  • Experience with one or more public cloud vendors (i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP, etc), ideally MS Azure.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, preferable AKS(Azure Kubernetes).
  • Have proven communication skills to explain complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner.
  • Knowledge and ideally hands-on experience in implementing Domain Drive Design.
