Supplier Quality Engineer

The vacancy is based in Shanghai. Frequent travel is required.

The vacancy is part of the Global Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs Department.

Department Vision: Continuously enhance business capabilities by using quality management and regulatory compliance as a tool for competitive advantage.

Department Mission: Develop global processes aimed to achieving streamlined and compliant business operations, both internally at GrandVision and in the interaction with suppliers.

Reports to

QC & Supplier Control Manager
Note that the reporting line may evolve in the future.

Main purpose of the role

Key responsibilities of the role include:

A. Performing process control and supplier visits to confirm stable quality production.

B. Leading Value Improvement (VI) and other supplier development activities.

C. Helping to coordinate and manage quality aspects of NPI (New Production Introduction) with suppliers.

D. Driving continuous improvement and coordinate supplier non-conforming corrective actions.

E. Supporting potential suppliers’ investigation, assessment and qualification, etc.

F. Escalating business and regulatory issues.

G. Ensuring QARA KPIs are achieved.

H. Supporting the QARA team when and where required.

Key performance indicators

Performance will be measured based on QARA KPIs.

Required qualifications/level of education

  • The ideal candidate should have an academic degree in a related field.

  • The ideal candidate should have experience in the following areas: supplier control; QARA regulations; process control; eyewear industry; eyewear products.

Key skills, knowledge and experience

The ideal candidate shall:

• Be comfortable with a pragmatic approach to regulations.

• Minimum experience of 3 years in supplier quality/development in multinational manufacturing organizations. Optical or automotive background a plus.

• Basic Understanding of quality systems (QS9000/TS16949/ISO9000) root cause analysis, and preventive QE techniques (FMEA, Control Plans, flow diagrams, PPAP, QFD, DFM, DFA, SPC, metrology and gage R&R, GD&T).

• Knowledge of six sigma is desirable.

• Good Interpersonal skills, ability to work with people from different backgrounds, cultural and educational.

• Good understanding of new product development process.

• Be willing to take on board new challenges with enthusiasm and professionality.

• Be fully proficient in English, particularly written, and Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of CFR Title 21, ISO 13485, EU 2017/745 is preferred.
