We are looking for an amazing VAT GL Accountant to join our team. You will join a dedicated finance team in a growing, complex, international environment where your focus is split between VAT and GL. Please note that we are only able to consider candidates currently residing in the Netherlands (or about to arrive) for this position.


  • Responsible for timely generating, preparing, analysing and remittee VAT Compliance, checking invoices samples.
  • Responsible to clear the input VAT account and output VAT account evaluating if clearing went well in GL accounts. Also to ensure consistency between base amounts and VAT amounts
  • Responsible for electronic and on-time filing of multiple countries’ VAT return, e.g.: UK, NL, DE, AT. PT and to initiate and control the VAT payments to ensure all taxes are paid on time
  • Responsible for EC Sales List and monthly listing of supplies to customers established in other EU countries via the local tax authorities' website (Opgaaf ICP or EC Sales Listing).
  • Coordinate the approvals from VAT Manager in order to submit all VAT Compliances reviewed and approved. Also responsible to upload and file INTRASTAT Return via the local CBS website and local websites in NL, PT, FR, DE, UK, AT.
  • Assist Tax Manager with Tax Authorities queries for GrandVision Holdings and GVSC BV
  • Responsible to maintain bank in-transit accounts cleared at least on a weekly basis and to reconcile bank balance
  • Improving relationship with Opcos and Account Payables team to reduce intercompany differences during the month end closing.
  • Responsible to run the manual billing in SAP and check if all deliveries of current month are billed.
  • Timely reconcile the Related Party balance (EssilorLux) in Hyperion to ensure a smooth month end closing
  • Prepare financial reports including month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing
  • Ad-hoc support for financial accounting subjects and support on various Projects

Key skills, knowledge and experience

  • Fluent in English (written & spoken)
  • Experience of working in an high pressure, international environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics or equivalent field of study
  • Experience in GL accounting and VAT or equivalent, preferably in a multinational retail environment
  • Knowledge of Tax and VAT
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Hyperion experience is a plus
  • Experience in retail industry is a plus
  • Experience in test environment, preferrable in SAP
